More help for Illogan: Latest News!

At the end of week 3, more support is becoming available. It is wonderful how the Community spirit is evolving at a time when we have to distance ourselves from others.
it is noticably quieter, bird song can be heard clearly throughout the day and those of us who are lucky enough to get out of the house for a short spell seem to be observing the 2 metre rule. Its good to see families out together getting some much needed fresh air during their once a day exercise and thank goodness that the sun is shining and the wind and rain are holding off.
Of course, some of us dont have family or friends to share this difficult time with. Being home alone with little or no human interaction may be normal daily life for many of the elderly or vulnerable however, lockdown has added to their isolation and removed their ability to go out even for essentials. The ability to talk to another human being can be so beneficial at this time.
To help those having to self isolate, worrying about how to get food/mediical supplies or just to have a lisening ear there are further services that are avaiaible. If you can, do pass the following information on to someone who needs it.
Camborne Library Staff have been re-tasked and are currently running a chat line on 01209 708995 and Judy Davidson, a Redruth Town Councillor is available to chat on 01209 217179.
Volunteer Cornwall are setting up a dedicated support group for Illogan. Andrew Blizzard is working with Volunteer Cornwall to set up the group. They will be helping the vulnerable people in the area. They want to reach out to as many people as possible both in terms of volunteers and people who need help. Andrew may be contacted on 07949 691164.
So, if you are interested in volunteering or if you are aware of someone who needs support with shopping, prescription collections or anything else! Give Andrew a call.
